The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ) is the Australian version of AAA, and the group is taking the lead in advocating for Australian lemon laws. The Age noted that RACQ spokesman Steve Spalding feels that current laws only allow vehicle owners to sell their lemons or undertake expensive legal action, and quotes him as saying:

“There is no legal requirement for car makers to replace a vehicle. All they have to do under the terms of the warranty cover is to attempt to repair the problem, as many times as it takes.”

RACQ is advocating for standardized lemon laws throughout the country. This is a notable improvement over U.S. lemon laws, which vary from state to state.
